Meyer Zoysia also known as Z-52, has been a successful medium bladed zoysia grass for over 60 years throughout the southern United States. This grass was selected primarily for its texture, color, and vigor compared to other zoysiagrass selections.
Meyer zoysia grass is a genetically modified version of Japan’s grass variety called Zoysia japonica. It is slow growing, dark green, and very dense. This plant is much more tolerant of heat than its predecessors, and also demonstrates exceptional cold tolerance.
Also called Z-52, this grass variety is an improved cultivar of Zoysia japonica. It has a medium, dark-green color with intermediate leaf texture and shoot density. Meyer Zoysia is slightly less shade tolerant than Emerald Zoysia. It also has the fastest spring green-up.
