4 Ιαν 2016 · An OD gearbox is one of the most endearing and sought after options supplied on our beloved MGBs. It allows the engine to turn fewer revs per mile, meaning less noise, heat, fuel, wear and tear. Most operate on 3rd and 4th gear.

This dissertation was intended for an MGA, but most of it applies to the MG Midget and MGB as well, especially the early MGB 3-synchro gearbox, but not including any overdrive unit. This is an explanation of the configuration and general principals of how the gearbox works.
