If you don’t have your Michigan CPL, you must get a permit to purchase from your local police department prior to taking possession of the pistol. Buyers Must: Be age 21 or older. Have a valid purchase permit (form RI-010) Be a resident of Michigan. Be eligible to own a firearm. The Process:
The Michigan gun bill of sale follows the State laws, known as MDL 28.422, that require all buyers of firearms in the State to obtain a ‘purchase permit’. An individual may apply by going to their local police department and have their background checked and pass a pistol safety exam.
An applicant for a Michigan Concealed Pistol License must: 1. Be at least 21 years of age. 2. Be a citizen of the United States or an immigrant alien lawfully admitted into the United States. 3. Be a resident of Michigan for at least six months prior to application. An applicant is a resident of Michigan if one of the following applies:

An applicant for a Michigan CPL must: Be at least 21 years of age. Be a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted into the United States. Be a legal resident of Michigan and reside in Michigan for at least six months immediately prior to application.
