Like a moron I was working for a startup. Like an even bigger moron I agreed to use my personal laptop until we got work laptops, with my personally purchased copy of MS Office. The company linked their enterprise licenses of Office to the laptop, apparently, because I've left the company and my Office programs are telling me I need a license.

Download Office. It is recommended to download Office via tb.rg-adguard.net/public.php, which is a front end for MSFT-provided downloads. MSFT provides download links for Office on their website, but they are buried on within a complex tree, on top of which you would need a license key in order for them to reveal the download links.
I've purchased a Microsoft Office Home & Business for Mac 2021: Lifetime License from FatKidDeals (an Amazon affiliate) for my Macbook for $29.99. I assume this is a reputable site and the license is legal.
Just login to Windows using your Microsoft Account and it should link up. you might need to deregister your PC or Logout of Office online at the link below due to reinstalling Windows so only 1 PC is registered to your account.
You go to Microsoft's website and redeem that key with your Microsoft account. Then you download the software through Microsoft's website. Once you have it downloaded, you just login to your account while in word/excel.
