Warranty overview. Your new Surface or Surface-branded accessory comes with: A one-year limited hardware warranty. 90 days of technical support. In addition to the standard limited warranty, you may have the option to purchase extended protection for your Surface (not available in all markets).
Once you've registered your device, use your Microsoft account to check your Surface warranty or check your Xbox warranty. Here's how: Sign in to account.microsoft.com/devices with your account. Locate the device that you want to check the warranty on, then select Info & support.
Microsoft offers service for a minimum of 3 years after the date of sale. At first, it may be covered under your limited warranty or, if you purchased one, an optional protection plan. After that, Microsoft offers out-of-warranty service and some replacement components for a fee.

Every Surface device comes with a minimum of 1-year Microsoft Hardware Limited Warranty. 1 Your warranty coverage includes Mechanical breakdown, 2 technical support, and prepaid return shipment. Your Surface protection starts on the day of purchase.
Register your Surface, Surface accessory, Xbox, or Xbox accessory to see its warranty coverage. You'll also be able to create service orders and track any existing orders for that device.
