An oak tree requires a 1×1 column of unobstructed space at least 4 blocks above its sapling to grow (5 blocks including the sapling itself). Oak trees can still grow when the base and trunk are enclosed on all sides. Their growth is not hindered by logs, leaves, dirt, or saplings.
Regular Oak: 5x5 width, 7 height (somewhat redundant since there is always the possibility that a big oak will grow instead of a regular one) Dark Oak: 12x12 width, 11 height; Birch: 5x5 width, 8 height (tall birch trees cannot be grown with saplings)
1 ημέρα πριν · A fancy oak form exists with a single leaf block layer above the minimal 4-block trunk, rarely allowing a tree to grow in a vertical space with a height of only 5, but otherwise, the maximum trunk height is 2 less than the vertical space, making the practical minimum height 6.
This page documents the layer-by-layer composition of a given generated structure, terrain feature, or feature.

The largest mega jungle trees, mega spruces, and mega pines reach 31 blocks tall. Dark oaks are typically 6–8 blocks tall. Leaves and logs removed from a tree do not grow back over time. When a sapling on a grass block or mycelium grows into a tree, the grass block or mycelium is instantly converted to dirt.
