OLED is hands down better than mini led, having owned both there is a huge difference in black and colors even when compared to my really old OLED. Everything looks better on OLED, SDR, HDR, Auto HDR.
OLED tends to outperform LED FALD TVs in dark scenes, but LED FALD (100 zones or more) tends to outperform OLED in bright scenes (actually reaching required nit rating). But yes every year the OLEDs are getting brighter and the LEDs are getting better at selectively dimming.
If you get a mini-led with enough dimming zones, the true black advantage of OLED is mitigated quite a bit. Plus, the TV I have (TCL QM851G) gets much brighter than my 42" C2. So right now, for media I like watching on the mini-led over the OLED.
Mini LED is a viable option and depending on the lighting in your room and productivity/gaming needs can be better choice than OLED. With that said mini led isn’t just about the number of dimming zones but also about the algorithm used for those dimming zones.
