11 Δεκ 2023 · Gray Stains on Pine. Minwax Classic Gray and Slate are the only ones here that really do anything to alter the color of the wood. This is a great example of how Varathane just doesn’t have as much pigment in their colors.
1 Φεβ 2018 · We put pine floors in last year and I stained them with a colour called Special Walnut from minwax. It's a beautiful medium shade that doesn't read yellow at all. Infact, the grain in some of the boards take on a blue/gray colour.

1. Minwax Pickled Oak. This stain added very little color to any of the boards, (maybe slightly lighter with a tinge of green), but really brought out their natural color and grain. All of the wood types accepted the stain well, except the non-conditioned Birch side. 2. Minwax Simply White.
5 Ιουλ 2019 · One of my top favorite stain colors is Minwax Provincial, I’ve used it a lot! I think it’s the perfect classic wood stain! Not too light or dark, it has a golden honey hue to it that is beautiful. It’s always my go to color when I need a wood tone color that will go with almost any design plan.
To find out which type of stain actually gives the best finish on pine, I tested five different stains on a few scrap pine boards. These are the stains I tested: Minwax penetrating stain in Special Walnut (oil-based) Varathane premium wood stain in Early American (oil-based) Behr fast drying water-based wood stain in English Chestnut (water-based)
1 Νοε 2023 · My exact pine wood staining process: Sand the wood with 80 grit sandpaper, followed by 120 and then 220 to finish. I used my trusty orbital sander for this. Wipe off sawdust with water or black tea; 2 coats of MinWax Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner; 1 coat of MinWax Pickled Oak Penetrating Stain
