6 Οκτ 2011 · Does anyone use Paste wax such as Minwax Paste Finishing Wax or Johnson's Paste Wax or a combination of wax and other ingredients on hot metal? I tried the Minwax on a forged leaf as an experiment and it worked nicely. Just wondering if any of you have had any experience, good or bad, with it.
7 Φεβ 2023 · Minwax paste finishing wax protects and adds hand-rubbed luster to any finished wood surface. These are already painted to be a buttery white. This has been around for years and there is a reason for that.
Minwax is my top pick for pasting waxes because it’s easy to use and doesn’t leave a tacky surface. It’s also a maintenance-free, affordable option, costing around $25 for a can. Briwax and Johnson Paste Wax are also great but lack in some areas like durability and after-maintenance.
I reached for my favorite antique finish: Minwax® Paste Finishing Wax. Using an old athletic sock as an applicator, I rubbed a coat of dark Paste Finishing Wax over the iron bands on the inside, and over the antique shellac finish on the outside, giving it more protection, too.
Minwax is great on wood but not great at waxing tool surfaces. Johnson's paste wax used to be my go to wax for smoothing cast iron, but I think it's on production pause while they reformulate to make it legal to sell in California.

1 Φεβ 2024 · I've mostly used it for the cast iron surfaces on my machines. It's been a long time since I've used it on any of my woodworking projects. I used it on our dining room table to clear up some hazy areas in the finish due to hot dishes sitting on it recently.
