Dorm Ranking Advice (Prefrosh) Housing applications aren't out yet, but I've been thinking about how I'll rank dorms on the form and can't decide how to rank my top three dorms. Right now I'm between New House numbered houses, New Vassar, and Simmons (thinking of ranking them in that order).

14 Ιουν 2018 · Here are some tips to figure out where you’ll fit best: Ask multiple residents about their experience with the dorm during REX and CPW. Watch the dorm i3 videos on mitguidetoresidences.mit.edu; Visit all dorms. Even if you’re absolutely certain where you want to live, it’s helpful to discover different places at MIT and make new friends.
Obviously the tier 1 dorms that were built/remodeled recently (New, Vassar) will have better ones than the others; specifically, these to have in-unit air conditioning, but all the other dorms don't.

At MIT, there are 11 undergrad and 9 grad dorms. All undergrads must live in an MIT residence in their first year. Dorms are typically split into suites or floors and have Graduate Resident Assistants (GRAs) to aid with student morale and activities.
