At Anti-Slavery International, we define modern slavery as when an individual is exploited by others, for personal or commercial gain. Whether tricked, coerced, or forced, they lose their freedom. This includes but is not limited to human trafficking, forced labour and debt bondage.
Modern day slavery facts. Slaves are forced to work under threat of violence for no pay beyond subsistence. They are treated as property and sometimes bought and sold. Slaves of today work up to 20 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Basically working non-stop for nothing.
