There is a lot of history behind the island and many natural sights to be seen such as Mohegan Bluffs, a cliffside park with great views of natural cliffs and the Atlantic ocean.
Some people say the beach at the base of the 200-foot tall Mohegan Bluffs is the most beautiful on the island, harboring a secluded, if rocky, place to swim and surf. It’s a bit of a climb to get there, however, with a set of 141 steps leading down to the sand.

From the 150-foot dirt and clay cliff at the southern end of the island (called “the bluffs”), you can see the new offshore wind farm. The bluffs are named for a battle in which, lore has it, the local Manisses repelled a band of attacking Mohegan Indians.
