Our experiment was simple. We placed bread in various conditions (we had dry dark, dry light, wet, open, and in a closed bag) and Monkey came up with a hypothesis for which piece of bread would mold first. She predicted it would be the bread we placed in the paper bag in the pantry.
Directions: To observe how bacteria grows, we will conduct an experiment to see how fast bacteria multiples on bread when different variables are introduced the bread. Read through the daily procedures to collect data and learn how a bacterium grows and the importance of sanitation in the kitchen.

Students will learn about the different kinds of mold and how it grows. They will learn the health effects of mold and how to help avoid the growth of mold. Observe the growth of different kinds of food molds & understand how to identify and prevent mold growth.
Bring the material home and follow the treatment for a period of exactly 7 days (day 0, day 1, day 2, day 3, day 4, day 5 & day 6). The container should remain covered to allow bread mould to grow on the bread. Estimate the degree of growth of bread mould on the bread and note down the results.
28 Μαΐ 2020 · The Science Behind It: Certain pieces of bread develop mold faster or in larger amounts than others. This is because the dirty hand and the dirty surface were exposed to more germs than the clean hand and control. This is why they developed the most mold the fastest! The clean hand should develop less mold compared to the dirty hand and surface.
Teach children about microorganisms by having them carry out this Mouldy Bread Experiment. Children will enjoy working scientifically, developing their observational skills and drawing conclusions, as they investigate mould on bread.
