Had this thing for a couple weeks now and have done some tube swapping, so I thought I'd share my opinions and observations on the MonoPrice Stage Right 5W 8" combo amp, which can usually be found for about $100 USD. This is essentially the same amp as the Laney Cub 8, with a few minor changes. Scroll down for photos. Basic Details:
I haven't tried them, but for what it is, it's a great price! For a small low-wattage tube amp I have a tweed 5f1 "fender champ" style amp I built from a kit, that cost more than twice that, and sounds great with the very simplest of circuits.
7 Φεβ 2021 · This amp gets as loud as I could ever want and doesn’t lose its composure. The amp is plugged into a Monster Power Center, lossless music is played over Audioquest Golden Gate RCA adapted cables from a 3rd generation Fiio x5.
I have a Monoprice 15 and think it is a great amp for the money but the Orange amps are superior. I have about 40 other amps and been playing semi pro for 45 years. Reply reply
14 Απρ 2021 · The head is rated at 30 watts of power and features a quartet of EL-84 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes, with a built-in tube-driven reverb powered by one of the preamp tubes and an effects loop on the rear.
22 Ιουλ 2023 · Best tube amps under $500: Guitar World recommends. If we’re choosing just one amplifier on this list, then it’s got to be the Blackstar HT-1R MKII. It offers amazing value for money, as well as a wide range of tube amp tones – from beautiful cleans to all-out distortion.
There's lots of cool things about this amp because it's a true 5w tube amp, which means the tone should sound great when it's turned up and it looks nice in white! It can even has an output for an external cabinet, so, if you could use it as a 'head' on another cabinet and change up the tone that way.
