There are two beach access points from the bluff area: One access point is across from Second St; the other access point is about 1/2 mile north, west of Hwy 1.
Montara State Beach is a wide mile-long beach just north of Montara along the San Mateo County Coast. Behind the beach there are stunning sculpted sandstone cliffs and rolling hills of the coastal range making this a very picturesque spot. The beach has two access points on Highway 1.

Montara State Beach is a wide sandy beach about eight-tenths of a mile long. The south end of Montara Beach has rich but mostly inaccessible tide pools. Harbor seals occasionally haul out at Montara. The beach is bounded by low hills both to the north and south.
