simulate complicated models (queueing models in telecommunications, insurance risk models, asset price models, etc.) and numerically estimate quantities of interest (average delay at a call center, probability of ruin, price of an exotic option or derivative).
Monte Carlo simulation is a useful technique for modeling and analyzing real-world systems and situations. This paper is a conceptual paper that explores the applications of Monte Carlo simulation for managing project risks and uncertainties. The benefits of Monte Carlo simulation are using quantified data, allowing project managers to

Monte Carlo simulations are methods for simulating statistical systems. The aim is to generate a representative ensemble of con gurations to access ther-modynamical quantities without the need to solve the system analytically or to perform an exact enumeration. The main principles of Monte Carlo simulations are ergodicity and detailed balance.
Chapter 1 provides an introduction to Monte Carlo methods and applications. The different classes of dynamic models that are encountered in simulation are outlined, and due emphasis is placed on pitfalls and limitations of Monte Carlo methods. Chapter 2 deals with numerical integration meth-ods.
