Some countries have economies that are more developed than others; these places are sometimes referred to as more economically developed countries (MEDCs). They are also called more developed countries (MDCs), developed countries, or industrialized countries.
We can see from this that there were big changes over time. The third column indicates dominant thinking about the economy in developed countries, and the fourth column shows how thinking about development changed, including both objectives and mechanisms.
