Mottling: Mottled skin appears as blotchy patches of discoloration, often seen first in the extremities. It occurs due to reduced blood flow to the skin's surface resulting in irregular patterns of pale and discolored areas.
Mottling is also harder to see on darker skin tones – it might look darker than normal, purple or brownish in colour. Why do changes happen at the end of life? When someone's dying, the body slows down and shows signs and symptoms that the person is approaching the end of their life.
