Livedo reticularis is a common skin finding consisting of a mottled reticulated vascular pattern that appears as a lace-like purplish discoloration of the skin. The discoloration is caused by swelling of the venules owing to obstruction of capillaries by small blood clots.
I just looked up pictures of mottled skin. My legs especially, almost always have these purple or blue lines on them. It's definitely worse in the cold, but it's such a normal thing to me I assumed it was fine.
About three weeks ago I noticed a patch of mottled skin on the back of my leg. It doesn’t hurt or itch or bother me, but it won’t go away and now it seems like it’s working its way up my leg. Is this something I should be worried about?
