Mount Bental is one of Israel’s favorite mountain peaks to visit, partly due to the great panoramic views of the Golan and even Syria but also because Mount Bental was the site of a courageous battle fought during Israel’s war for the Golan.

22 Απρ 2024 · The Golan Heights is a surprisingly peaceful area, despite being so close to Syria and Lebanon. Back in the 1960s and 1970s, the area was a war zone but today it's partly demilitarized. Mount Bental has an effective army post that's currently not in use.
The Mount Bental overlook is beautiful and provides stunning views of Mount Hermon and the Golan. Located in the Golan Heights, Mount Bental is 1,170 meters above sea level. The road to the top has recently been repaved and tourist facilities have been renovated and rebuilt.
From the top of Mount Bental, which is adjacent to Mount Avital, you will appreciate the influence of volcanic activity on the topography of this part of the northern Golan Heights, view Mount Hermon and the Syrian border, and understand the trauma of the Yom Kippur War.
Check out this 12.9-mile loop trail near Merom Golan, Golan Heights. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 5 h 16 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.
