Crater Lake is located within the collapsed caldera of Mount Mazama on the crest of the Cascade Range in southern Oregon about 90 km (55 mi) north of the city of Klamath Falls and about 100 km (60 mi) northeast of Medford.
Mount Mazama (Tum-sum-ne in the Native American language Klamath [5]) is a complex volcano in the western U.S. state of Oregon, in a segment of the Cascade Volcanic Arc and Cascade Range. The volcano is in Klamath County, in the southern Cascades, 60 miles (97 km) north of the Oregon–California border.
Mount Mazama is located in the southern part of the Cascade Range, about sixty miles north of the Oregon-California state line. It holds Crater Lake ( giiwas in the Klamath language), at 1,943 feet the deepest freshwater body of water in the United States.

Crater Lake National Park is an 183,224 acre park located in Oregon in the United States. In 5700 BC Mount Mazama, a volcano where Crater Lake now lies, erupted and its summit collapsed, which left behind a large caldera that later filled with water and became Crater Lake.
The caldera was formed when the magma underneath a volcano drained away.
