17 Νοε 2019 · Deleting the value of the OOBETimer key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/WPAEvents/OOBETimer) and starting the activation via command prompt: msoobe /a. This will disable the activation requirement for good but might cause issues (although I haven't found any yet) ( source )
21 Αυγ 2017 · To automatically avoid activation loop: (since activation is no longer available) After trial period runs out (for new install), When notifified that activation is neccessary to access windows XP: 1 Restart computer. 2 Hold down F8 key to enter safemode menu. 3 Choose safemode with command prompt.
4 Μαΐ 2010 · I have a computer with (presumably unlicensed) Windows XP. The activation (over the internet) failed, and I now I cannot get into Windows. After calling Microsoft, it seems like I will have to reinstall everything and install a freshly bought operating system. What are my options here?
1 Ιουν 2012 · Even though this extended my activation period, I was still unable to get the activation program to start up. I fixed that by going into “regedit” and searching for the “wpaevents” folder. I then changed the permissions to include “User” for “Full control”.
22 Ιαν 2013 · The trick is to first remove the current Product Key with slmgr /upk, then the OEM key can be entered and activation works flawlessly. This idea comes from Clean install Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 from OEM key, which also describes how to get the OEM key using RW Everything (including video tutorial!).
23 Ιαν 2021 · I’ve tried to update it as best I can, but when I try to install Service Pack 2 it fails with the message “product key may not be valid”. I checked activation of the product key using the Activate Windows tool, and it tells me that the product key is legitimate and activated.
12 Αυγ 2011 · I successfully reactivated an OEM XP after upgrading my hard drive, no problem, didn't have to call Microsoft. The algorithm they use for activation has a tolerance to allow for some hardware changes.
