17 Νοε 2019 · Calling the current MS activation number for a product still in support (e.g. for activation for Win7) and choosing "Other Products" in the voice menu. This is my preferred one since you don't have to tamper with the system. In my case (Nov 2019) I followed the link to the Microsoft Licensing Activation Centers worldwide telephone numbers.
10 Ιουλ 2010 · I cannot activate Windows XP SP2 installation with my original XP activation key (I have installed in a Boot Camp partition which will not accept anything below SP2).
4 Μαΐ 2010 · I have a computer with (presumably unlicensed) Windows XP. The activation (over the internet) failed, and I now I cannot get into Windows. After calling Microsoft, it seems like I will have to reinstall everything and install a freshly bought operating system. What are my options here?
22 Ιαν 2013 · The trick is to first remove the current Product Key with slmgr /upk, then the OEM key can be entered and activation works flawlessly. This idea comes from Clean install Windows 8.1 or Windows 8 from OEM key, which also describes how to get the OEM key using RW Everything (including video tutorial!).
1 Ιουν 2012 · Even though this extended my activation period, I was still unable to get the activation program to start up. I fixed that by going into “regedit” and searching for the “wpaevents” folder. I then changed the permissions to include “User” for “Full control”.
21 Φεβ 2020 · Just converted an old physical XP to Virtual (P2V) and now it asked for activation. I got the genuine key, but the activation server is no longer available and called the tech support and they are not helpful (unable to activate too).
23 Ιαν 2021 · I’ve tried to update it as best I can, but when I try to install Service Pack 2 it fails with the message “product key may not be valid”. I checked activation of the product key using the Activate Windows tool, and it tells me that the product key is legitimate and activated.
