This walkthrough covers installing MS-DOS 6.22 from the original installation diskettes. Why write this in 2013? That's a very valid question, to which there are a few answers: Setting up a fully working DOS system will give you great appreciation for how far computing has come.

9 Μαΐ 2005 · Yes you can, but you need to prepare it on another machine. Dos 6.22 comes on 3 floppies. Create a bootable CD using the downloaded 6.22 boot floppy as the boot floppy source and the files from all three floppies as the data. Then you can boot from this CD, change the drive letter to the CD and reun the install from there.
11 Αυγ 2015 · Actually, it is possible to install MS-DOS 6.22 from a single folder on a bootable CD using the original install, but there's a catch: you have to create the partition with Fdisk and format the drive first before running the setup or else it won't work (it will ask for a missing disk).
11 Νοε 2001 · I've successfully installed DOS by formatting the drive with the /S switch (to make it bootable), creating a directory named DOS, then copying the entire contents of an existing DOS directory (on another system) to the new DOS directory.
Now, choose where you want the non-bootable dos files to be installed, C:\DOS is the by default directory. Once validated, you will have an installation screen and you will be prompted to put the other diskettes, like in the picture below:
23 Μαΐ 2016 · If you've got the system booted from a MSDOS floppy, the way to install the same boot-system onto the local harddrive is as follows: (presuming that the floppy is a: and the harddrive is c:) sys is a shell builtin, along with dir, del, cd, and the other basics.
