The Wayang Museum (Indonesian: Museum Wayang) is a museum dedicated to Javan wayang puppetry. The museum is located in Kota Tua, Jakarta, Indonesia. It is one of several museums and galleries facing Fatahillah Square, which include the Jakarta History Museum, Fine Art and Ceramic Museum, and Kota Post Office art gallery. [1]
Museum Wayang memamerkan berbagai jenis dan bentuk wayang dari seluruh Indonesia, baik yang terbuat dari kayu atau kulit maupun bahan-bahan lain. Wayang-wayang dari luar negeri ada juga di museum ini, misalnya dari Tiongkok dan Kamboja.
Museum ini berlokasi di Jalan Pintu Besar Utara Nomor 27, Pinangsia, Kota Tua, Jakarta Barat. Museum Wayang buka mulai dari hari Selasa sampai Minggu, pukul 09.00 – 17.00 WIB. Pengunjung hanya perlu merogoh kocek sebesar Rp 5.000 per orang. Untuk pelajar dikenakan tarif Rp 3.000.

The Wayang Museum is a very convenient and quick museum to visit if you are in the Kota Tua area. It can be easily included in a 2-3 hour visit to Fatahillah Square. The museum itself could use a major facelift and more resources could be put into making it a better museum to visit.
A visit to the Wayang Museum provides a unique opportunity to experience Indonesian rich culture, history, and artistry. It offers insights into the meticulous craftsmanship involved in creating the puppets and the storytelling techniques utilized in Wayang performances.
Located in Old Town, an attraction in itself, the Wayang Museum is one of the best single collections of indigenous art in the city. Not only is the variety dizzying and the craftsmanship amazing, the wayang tell stories by themselves.
