In music, unison is two or more musical parts that sound either the same pitch or pitches separated by intervals of one or more octaves, usually at the same time. Rhythmic unison is another term for homorhythm .

15 Οκτ 2024 · 'Unison' could mean two or more instruments playing the same note name, but an octave or other octave copies of that same note. 'Rhythmic Unison' is two or more instruments playing simultaneously in the same rhythm, but using different pitches.
The unison interval consists of two notes of the same pitch. For example, C and another C note will result in a unison interval. On the picture to the right, a unison in musical notation is shown. Unison should be distinguished from the octave (see below).
