13 Ιαν 2020 · There are only 2 firing orders for the SBF- 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 (early 289/302) and 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 (5.0 and 351W). The firing order is determined by the camshaft. If you put a 5.0 or 351W cam in a 289 you have to change the plug wires in the cap to match the firing order.

6 Δεκ 2002 · A stock 289 requires 5 quarts to fill. If you add five, run the engine for a few minutes, turn it off, wait, check the level, and find it's too high, you probably have an incorrect oil pan or dipstick.
26 Μαΐ 2017 · Just make sure the wires are installed on the distributor AND the wires go to the correct plugs of the new firing order. Also make sure that #1 on the distributor is located on the compression stroke of #1 cylinder.
12 Ιουν 2009 · What are some recommended oils on a completely stock 289? Should I go to synthetic or would that risk causing possible leaks? Do I need an oil with high zinc (we do for our 76 MGB). 10w-30 vs 10w-40? I also need to replace the trans fluid and rear diff fluid too. Any recommendations on that?
11 Ιαν 2009 · Fords are numbered from front back on the passenger side as 1 through 4 and from front to back on the driver's side 5 through 8. The firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. Hope that helps. Come to think of it, here's a diagram of that.
5 Αυγ 2024 · The oil capacity of the 1965-1973 Windsor 289 engine is 5 quarts or around 4.8 liters. Keep that number in mind before doing your next oil change so you know how much to add after draining the old oil.
