Ninth-grade shortstop Kailey Opitz tied a single-game state tournament record with seven runs batted in to power the late surge. Sophomore pitcher Eleanor Rolf was 5 for 5 and senior third baseman Madeline Tusler was 4 for 4 with two RBIs in West Lutheran's 17-hit output.
The Minnesota State High School League holds the tournament each year. Teams qualify by being champions of their section. Currently 32 teams qualify for the state tournament as follows: 8 Class A Boys, 8 Class A Girls, 8 Class AA Boys, and 8 Class AA Girls.
MYSA will have tournament headquarters in the St. Ben's Athletic Fields building, located next to the stadium. There is no need to check-in at headquarters as check-in will be completed on the field, but we will be available at HQ for questions and concerns.
Tournaments. The Minnesota Youth Soccer Association is honored to serve as the host organization for soccer events, including Minnesota State Cup, Minnesota Presidents Cup, and Summer State Championships. Additionally, MYSA offers tournament sanctioning to ensure tournaments are properly insured.

The US Youth Soccer Minnesota State Cup is a tournament designed to select the Minnesota league team or Midwest Regional team at each age level and gender to represent Minnesota at the US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional Championships.
