Lut (Arabic: لوط, romanized: Lūṭ, [luːtˁ]), also known as Lot in the Old Testament, is a prophet and messenger of God in the Qur'an. [1][2] According to Islamic tradition, Lut was born to Haran and spent his younger years in Ur, later migrating to Canaan with his uncle Abraham. [3] .
Prophet Lut, known in the Bible as Prophet Lot, was raised by his uncle, Prophet Ibrahim, may peace be upon him. Prophet Lut (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) loved, respected, and believed in Ibrahim’s (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ) message even when everyone ridiculed him.
Lot's Cave (كهف لوط) or Cave of Nabi Lut (كهف النبي لوط) is an archaeological site south of the Dead Sea and near the village of Ghor as-Safi (ancient Zoar). The site comprises of a partly natural and partyle man-made cave and a seventh century CE byzantine monastery complex.
