Prepare for public health accreditation. The PHAB Standards and Measures document provides guidance for public health departments preparing for initial accreditation. This document assists health departments as they select documentation for each measure.
In collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) is a criteria-based training and recognition program that assesses local health department capacity and capability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies.

Objective: The Accreditation Support Initiative's goal was to test the assumption that even small amounts of dedicated funding can help health departments make important progress in their readiness to apply for and achieve accreditation.
NACCHO believes that the voluntary national accreditation program must be affordable, designed as a part of a system that supports participation, and generated through significant input from local public health practitioners.
This article discusses the findings gleaned from a review of the deliverables and data collected from the local and tribal sites about their readiness to apply for and achieve health department accreditation during year 1 of the CDC/NACCHO Accreditation Support Initiative.
