To learn about accreditation and determine readiness to apply, the following informational resources offer answers to everything a health director may need to know when considering accreditation, including the process requirements, costs, and benefits.
In collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) is a criteria-based training and recognition program that assesses local health department capacity and capability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies.
The Department of Health is responsible for the licensing and oversight of Pennsylvania’s hospitals. The department conducts the Medicare and licensure surveys, as well as complaint and incident investigations for these facilities.
We license and regulate in-patient healthcare facilities, like nursing homes and hospitals, as well as out-patient healthcare facilities, like ambulatory surgical facilities and home health care agencies, to ensure they deliver safe health care to residents.
The National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) established this program in collaboration with CDC to assess LHD capability and capacity in public health preparedness using a set of standard criteria.
