Plot summary. Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie are magically whisked away from a British railway station to a beach near an old and ruined castle. They determine the ruin is Cair Paravel, where they once ruled as the kings and queens of Narnia.
Published in 1951, the novel was Lewis’s second addition to the popular Chronicles of Narnia series. In this story, the Pevensie children suddenly return to Narnia, where hundreds of years have passed since they defeated the evil White Witch and reigned as kings and queens at Cair Paravel.
After saving him, Trumpkin reveals that a new race of men now rule Narnia, known as the Telmarines. Their presence has led to the talking beasts retreating to the woods and losing their ability to communicate with man. The ruler of the Telmarines is known as King Miraz, but his nephew, Prince Caspian is the true king.
