Nasopharyngoscopy is the use of a flexible, thin fiber optic placed through the nostril of an awake patient in order to examine the nasal passageways and pharynx. Nasal endoscopy is the use of a rigid endoscope placed through the nostril of an awake patient in order to examine the nasal passageways and sinuses.

8 Αυγ 2023 · Flexible nasopharyngoscopy (also called fiberoptic nasendoscopy/flexible nasolaryngoscopy/flexible fiberoptic nasopharyngolaryngoscopy) is an essential skill for any otorhinolaryngologist (ENT surgeon). It is a diagnostic procedure used for examination of the nose, throat, and airway.
In some nasal endoscopes, the goal is to look straight from the tip of the instrument into the nose; there are other endoscopes in which the desired view is at an angle from the tip of the telescope. These 'angled' endoscopes can be used to see around corners and into the curved sinus cavities.
