  1. Prior to beginning any clinical experience and student teaching, every teacher candidate must complete a National Criminal Background Check (NCBC) through the Cecilia J. Lauby Teacher Education Center (56 DeGarmo Hall).

  2. We address that mission by partnering with universities to provide high-quality, career-oriented teacher certification programs in shortage areas, including special education, bilingual education and English for second language learners.

  3. General Engineering. Develop a broad engineering foundation. Electrical Engineering. Learn all about electrical engineering along with important computer engineering principles. Mechanical Engineering. Get hands-on training that inspires innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship.

  4. The teacher preparation programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and certified by the Illinois State Board of Education. In addition, 22 programs hold discipline-based accreditation.

  5. The Cecilia J. Lauby Teacher Education Center serves Illinois State University teacher education and graduate licensure students, while focusing on K-12 district partnerships, student teaching placements, student requirements, educational data, and ISBE licensure requirements.

  6. To be considered for acceptance into any of the Teaching and Learning majors, you must meet the following requirements. These requirements do NOT guarantee acceptance into the major. Must have completed 12 hours of graded college-level coursework. ENG 101 in progress or passed with a C or better.

  7. The College of Education includes the Departments of Educational Administration and Foundations and Special Education, the School of Teaching and Learning, the Cecilia J. Lauby Teacher Education Center, and the Laboratory Schools (Thomas Metcalf School and University High School).
