All public high school students must meet minimum state graduation requirements to earn a diploma and graduate. These graduation requirements are considered the Future-Ready Course of Study (FRC) requirements and prepare students for post-secondary success.
To be eligible to apply and be considered for admission at any of the 16 institutions within the University of North Carolina System, including Carolina, a student must complete the minimum high school coursework within the five traditional academic areas of English, mathematics, physical and biological sciences, and social sciences listed below.
HIGH SCHOOL COURSE REQUIREMENTS. The UNC system mandates the minimum high school courses required for admission to N.C. public universities. Incoming students must have completed: English: 4 units (emphasis on grammar, composition, and literature).
