The flag of the state of North Carolina, often referred to as the North Carolina flag, N.C. flag, or North Star, is the state flag of the U.S. state of North Carolina. History. First flag (1861–1865) State flag (1861–1865) North Carolina did not have an official state flag until the North Carolinian state constitutional convention of 1861.
Although not the state’s first flag, the current North Carolina state flag has been left largely unchanged over the past 125 years. The flag includes two important dates: May 20, 1775 and April 12, 1776.
State flag. The flag of North Carolina shall consist of a blue union, containing in the center thereof a white star with the letter "N" in gilt on the left and the letter "C" in gilt on the right of said star, the circle containing the same to be one third the width of said union.
