The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), established as the core postsecondary education data collection program for NCES, is a system of surveys designed to collect data from all primary providers of postsecondary education.
This chapter provides information on the basic format of this User Manual and a general overview of the IPEDS Data Center features and functionalities (available at http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datacenter).
The data are used by NCES for annual reports on the condition of postsecondary education and for statistical digests; IPEDS also provides the frame for sampling postsecondary institutions.

The IPEDS Data Center is the single entry point for retrieving IPEDS data. Using the data center, one can easily download data files for one or more institutions with information from any of the IPEDS components or download complete data files, produce a variety of reports, or create group statistics.

On the IPEDS website, Click on Use the Data in the top middle of the page.
IPEDS Data Center. The Data Center is the most advanced IPEDS data tool and offers the most options for analyzing IPEDS data. You can enter the Data Center from multiple links on the NCES website, but the Use the Data link at the top center of the IPEDS homepage is the easiest to remember.
