The Louisiana Housing Corporation offers the Project-Based Voucher Program. These vouchers are a component of an agency's housing choice voucher program. Find out more information on the program and the waiting list.
To apply, contact your local Public Housing Authority. Housing Choice Voucher (commonly known as Section 8) The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program assists low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe and sanitary housing in the private market.
To apply for either type of help, visit your local Public Housing Agency (PHA). Questions? Email or call our Public and Indian Housing Information Resource Center toll-free at (800) 955-2232. Some PHAs have long waiting lists, so you may want to apply at more than one PHA.
The Housing Choice Voucher Program is a federal government program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe and sanitary housing in the private market.
We serve the St. Bernard Parish residents through the (HCV) Housing Choice Voucher Program, (LiHeap) Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program and (CSBG) Community Service Block Grant. Qualified parish residents can also contact our office to sign up for Critical Needs Transportation Service.
