Donald P. Bellisario. Jeff Vlaming. A Navy lieutenant who was reported missing nearly ten years ago has been found by a deer hunter. When the NCIS team arrives at the scene to investigate, they see that his remains have been mummified.

The Curse is the fifth episode in NCIS Season 1 and the 5th episode of the entire NCIS series. While in a forest, a hunter discovers a cargo pod containing the mummified remains of a lieutenant commander.
This episode also introduces the fact that Gibbs doesn't feel the need to include NCIS agents in his investigation unless they are a part of HIS team. This is one of those qualities of Gibb's leadership that is fun to set his character apart but seems to be the nature of all of the procedural shows on television today.
