7 Μαρ 2024 · Depending on what kind of weapon you would like to purchase and who you are buying it from, the legal age could be as high as 21 under federal law. Texas law Section 46.06 of the Texas Penal Code makes it illegal for a person to sell or give a firearm to any child younger than 18.
Texas has no laws regarding possession of any firearm regardless of age; all existing restrictions in State law mirror Federal law except for the prohibition of zip guns (improvised gun). A person of any age may possess a firearm such as at a firing range.
