14 Ιουλ 2020 · With the goal of developing a new class of anticoagulants associated with a lower risk of bleeding than currently available agents, dozens of drugs targeting the contact system are now in development.
19 Μαρ 2015 · The non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants are already replacing low-molecular-weight heparin for thromboprophylaxis in patients undergoing elective hip or knee arthroplasty and replacing warfarin for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation and treatment of venous thromboembolism.
New oral anticoagulants include direct inhibitors of thrombin, factor Xa and factor IXa. Designed to provide more streamlined anticoagulation than warfarin, these agents can be given without routine coagulation monitoring.
FXI (factor XI) and FXII (factor XII) have emerged as targets for new anticoagulants that have the potential to be both more efficacious and safer than the currently available direct oral anticoagulants for the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism. In this review, we discuss the role o …

14 Αυγ 2014 · Four non–vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants, apixaban, dabigatran, edoxaban, and rivaroxaban, have been evaluated in phase III clinical trials for the treatment of acute venous thromboembolism, and all except edoxaban have also been studied for extended secondary prophylaxis after venous thromboembolism.
29 Απρ 2016 · The direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) represent a major advance in oral anticoagulant therapy and have replaced the vitamin K antagonists as the preferred treatment for many indications. By simplifying long-term anticoagulant therapy and improving its safety, the DOACs have the potential to reduce the global burden of thrombosis.
