Camping in the Pine Barrens. Camping is a tradition in the Pinelands and the State Forests within it have some of the best camping opportunities on the east coast. In Wharton State Forest, you can register a primitive campsite for as little as $8 a night, with a $3 charge per additional person.
Off US 206 and about 1/2 a mile up Atsion Road in New Jersey’s Wharton State Forest, you’ll find the Atsion Family Campground. The facility is run by the Dept of Environmental Protection and offers Tent, Trailer and Group Sites.
5 Ιουν 2012 · Camping is a popular activity year-round in Wharton State Forest. There are a number of state-run as well as private campgrounds in the area. The major state-run campsites are located at Atsion, Hawkin’s Bridge, and Godfrey Bridge.
Find peace at our campground in New Jersey which is due south of the Wharton State Forest and surrounded by other wildlife management areas that dot the protected ecoregion. We offer back-in and pull-through RV sites that can accommodate all sized RVs and trailers!
Online reservations can be made at www.camping.nj.gov (link is external). Atsion Campsites: Fifty tent and trailer sites with fire rings and picnic tables. Potable water, flush toilets and showers are within walking distance. Please call ahead for campfire regulations. Trailer sanitary station open April 1 through October 31.
Campsites open year-round. Visit the State of New Jersey’s website for more information. Goshen Pond Campground. There are 16 campsites and three group campsites at Goshen Pond, which is about 2 miles east of Pinelands Adventures off of Atsion Road.
