27 Ιουν 2017 · So I have started making knives/hatchets with 1084 steel from New Jersey Steel Baron and I have heard stories of heat treating where the knife becomes so brittle that it can break before tempering it.
15 Μαρ 2019 · Posted March 15, 2019. Yep, Aldo Bruno, the New Jersey Steel Baron himself, a great supporter of our community. A quick breakdown of the steels mentioned: 1084: relatively easy to forge, dead nuts simple to heat treat. Cannot be used for hamon.

21 Ιαν 2017 · As far as I know, the current supply of 1084 ONLY comes in flat stock, since it's a custom melt made for Aldo the New Jersey Steel Baron to sell to us. We (the bladesmithing community in general) told him we'd like it in flat bar, so that's how it comes.
