  5. 15 Μαρ 2019 · Yep, Aldo Bruno, the New Jersey Steel Baron himself, a great supporter of our community. A quick breakdown of the steels mentioned: 1084: relatively easy to forge, dead nuts simple to heat treat. Cannot be used for hamon. Well, you can get a line, but not the activity of a true hamon.

  6. 30 Δεκ 2020 · Bad steel from the NJ Steel Baron. Has anyone had any problems with 1084 hardening, but not skating a file? All of my 1084 seems to harden, but won’t skat a file unless I grind a large amount off. Is there another way other than file to test hardness?
