LOW-DOSE COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY. A low-dose CT (LDCT) scan is the only method recommended for lung cancer screening in high-risk patients. The LDCT machine takes a 3-D picture of your lungs. This picture shows more detail than a standard chest X-ray. You will be exposed to a low dose of radiation during an LDCT scan.
So while men still make up the majority of lung cancer diagnoses, the gender gap is narrowing, with lung cancer's sights seemingly set on women with no obvious behavioral "reason" for the disease. For men and women alike, these shocking statistics beg the question why?
