The following is a list of members of the United States House of Representatives from the state of New York. For chronological tables of members of both houses of the United States Congress from the state (through the present day), see United States congressional delegations from New York.
Malliotakis is the only Republican representing any part of New York City in Congress, and is one of five female Republican elected officials in New York City, with the other four serving on the New York City Council. In 2020, she defeated incumbent Representative Max Rose.
Beginning with Ruth Baker Pratt, who won her house seat in 1929, a series of New York women would fight their way onto Capitol Hill, defying expectations and breaking down barriers.
Women have been elected to the House of Representatives from 48 of the 50 states. The states that have not elected a woman to the House of Representatives are Mississippi and North Dakota; both have sent women to the United States Senate.
16 Μαρ 2019 · 1929 – Ruth Pratt becomes the first woman from New York to serve in the House of Representatives. 1935 – Rhoda Fox Graves is the first woman to serve in the state Senate. 1938 – Genevieve Earle becomes the first woman in the New York City Council.
U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng is serving her sixth term in the United States House of Representatives, where she represents New York's Sixth Congressional District. Grace's district is located entirely in the New York City borough of Queens, including west, central, and northeast Queens.
Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis is serving her second term representing New York’s 11th Congressional District which encompasses Staten Island and parts of Southern Brooklyn. Malliotakis was named to the House Committee on Ways and Means for the 118 th Congress.
