The committee developed the first edition of NFPA 1006, Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications , which established general job performance requirements (JPRs) for a rescue technician as well as specific job performance requirements for special rescue operations.
The NFPA 1006: Rope Rescue Level II Course offered by ESA is taught to the NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Level II Standard. Please ensure you read all of the instructions carefully before submitting your application for a Rope Rescue Level II Course. All sections of the application must be completed. All documents submitted become the property of ESA.

The Technical Rescuer course is the first step in completing the knowledge and skill requirements for NFPA 1006, 2013 edition, Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications. a. The Rope Rescue Operations Written Exam includes 100 multiple‐choice and true/false questions. The written test covers two (2) disciplines: Rope Rescue Awareness (20 questions), and Rope Rescue Operations (80 questions). b. Candidates are allowed two (2) hours to complete the exam.
