17 Οκτ 2021 · When Is the NFPA Diamond Required? NFPA 704 labels are required when a local, state, or federal code or regulation mandates their use. While the NFPA itself does not specify when the 704 diamond must be used, it does specify what kind of information must be included on the label.
Known as the NFPA “diamond,” the four section multicolor diamond shape indicates the health, flammability, instability and related hazards that are presented by short-term, acute exposure to a material during a fire, spill or other emergency-related condition.
A business that is required to complete a Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) as per the California Health and Safety Code Chapter 6.95 and Riverside County Ordinance 651, must post the appropriate National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 704 signs unless they are exempt*.
