The Camera Monitor is a vital device of the Five Nights at Freddy's series, debuting in the first game. It is essentially a surveillance monitor displayed with the building's full map and camera IDs when used.
In the first installment, the camera system is an extremely importent mechanic, being the only way to track the animatronics other than the sound of their footsteps. You can also find hidden easter eggs through cameras.
The player sits in an office and monitors security cameras positioned throughout the restaurant to observe the animatronic mascots. The player has a limited amount of power to view camera feeds, light hallways, and close the doors on either side of them.
