13 Απρ 2009 · The 1000D/XS came out in June of last year. All nikon did was replace their lower rung entry level mode. which is paired against the 1000D/XS. The 500D/T1i is paired against the d90 not the d5000. I look for the 1100D/2000D to come out with the XSi updated 12MP sensor and 720p 30 fps video at 3fps and no crippled RAW burst mode like the 1000D had.
Just bought the d5000 (salesman did a good job) novice buyer. After reading the reviews I kinda think I should have purchased the canon xsi instead. Salesman raved about the HD video but most reviews say its avg. at best.

Nikon D5000 has an ISO range that stretches from 200 to 6400 while Canon EOS Rebel XSi has 100 to 1600. Autofocus and lens compatibility. There is a big difference between these two cameras. Canon EOS Rebel XSi has a built-in autofocus motor but Nikon D5000 does not.
